Sunny Skies Return To Twin Cities Before Weekend Storms Arrive

TWIN CITIES, MN — Residents across the Twin Cities can expect a stretch of dry, sunny weather to close out the week before a chance of weekend storms moves through the region, according to the National Weather Service.

Thursday's forecast calls for sunny skies with a high near 82 degrees and northwest winds between 5 and 10 mph. Overnight lows will dip to around 57 degrees under mostly clear skies.

Friday will bring more sunshine and a high near 84 degrees, though forecasters say showers and thunderstorms could develop late Friday night into early Saturday morning, with a 50 percent chance of precipitation and up to a half inch of rain possible.

Saturday's forecast shows a 70 percent chance of showers, and possibly a thunderstorm, before 1 p.m., with highs reaching the low 80s. Isolated storms could bring higher rainfall totals, forecasters said.

The unsettled pattern is expected to continue into the weekend, with a 20 percent chance of storms Sunday as highs climb to around 88 degrees, the warmest day in the extended forecast. Temperatures are expected to ease back into the mid-80s early next week, with scattered rain chances persisting through Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.
