Target Again Recalls 2.2M Candles Over Laceration, Burn Hazards

Thursday's recall marks the second time in less than three months that Target has recalled batches of its Threshold candles.

MINNEAPOLIS — Target is voluntarily recalling 2.2 million candles over laceration and burn hazards, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

The recall — issued Thursday — includes Threshold's 5.5-ounce one-wick and 20-ounce three-wick candles in multiple scents. The candles are sold exclusively by Target.

The Minneapolis-based retail giant said it received 19 reports of the candle jar breaking or cracking during use, resulting in one minor injury.

Target stores sold the products nationwide and online from February 2020 through July 2023 for between $3 and $12.

Customers are urged to stop using the recalled candles and return them to any Target store for a full refund. Buyers can also contact Target to receive a prepaid return label to return the candles by mail.

Thursday's announcement marks the second time in less than three months that Target has recalled batches of Threshold candles over laceration and burn hazards. In May, Target recalled 4.9 million candles after the Minneapolis-based retail giant said it received 137 reports of the candle jar breaking or cracking during use, including six injuries.
