MINNEAPOLIS, MN — Target has recalled Pillowfort weighted blankets after two children died of asphyxia, the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission announced Thursday.

A 4-year-old girl and a 6-year-old girl reportedly became entrapped in the cover of the weighted blanket and died due to asphyxia at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina in April, according to the commission.

Target received two other non-fatal reports of children becoming entrapped in the blankets, which were exclusively sold at the stores and online from December 2018 through September 2022, the commission said.
