Teen Girl Shot Dead Near Minneapolis' Lake Of The Isles Identified

No arrests have been made in the shooting, which took place in the early hours of Monday morning.

MINNEAPOLIS — The Hennepin County Medical Examiner has identified the 15-year-old girl who was found shot dead near Minneapolis' Lake of the Isles. No arrests have been made in the shooting.

Ka'Maih Emauri Johnson, of Minneapolis, died at 1:27 a.m. on Monday at the intersection of Girard Avenue South and West 25 1/2 Street.

She died from a gunshot wound to the chest, the examiner ruled.

Just before 1:30 a.m., officers from the Fifth Precinct responded to reports of a shooting near the intersection of Girard Avenue South and 25th Street West in the Calhoun Isles neighborhood.

The teen girl was found at the location with a life-threatening gunshot wound. EMS treated her with life-saving efforts, but she died at the scene.

"Circumstances surrounding the incident are unknown at this time," the police department said in a news release.

"Officers interviewed witnesses and canvased the area. Forensic scientists from the Minneapolis Police Forensic Division responded to process the scene and collect evidence. Homicide investigators responded to begin their investigation."
