A major snowstorm is hammering the Twin Cities metro area Tuesday. These cities have declared a snow emergency for their local roads.

As of 12 p.m., nearly 4 inches of snow had fallen at the Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport and the storm hasn't stopped yet. The storm is averaging 1 to 2 inches per hour, according to the National Weather Service.

TWIN CITIES, MN — Minnesota is seeing its first major snowstorm of the season Tuesday, prompting cities across the Twin Cities metro area to declare snow emergencies.

As of 12 p.m., nearly 4 inches of snow had fallen at the Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport and the storm hasn't stopped yet. The storm is averaging 1 to 2 inches per hour, according to the National Weather Service.

Both Minneapolis and St. Paul have declared snow emergencies, which will both go into effect at 9 p.m. Several suburbs have declared their own emergencies as well.
