Twin Cities Expected To Land 2028 NFL Draft: Report

MINNEAPOLIS, MN — The NFL Draft appears to be on its way to Minnesota.

The Twin Cities and the Minnesota Vikings are expected to officially land the 2028 NFL Draft this week, according to a report from Sports Illustrated’s Vikings site.

The NFL could reveal the decision during its annual spring meetings, which are scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday in Orlando, according to the report.

The Vikings submitted a formal bid earlier this spring to host the 2028 draft.

U.S. Bank Stadium would serve as the centerpiece of the event, but organizers have described the bid as a regional effort meant to showcase the Twin Cities and the state.

The NFL Draft has become one of the league’s biggest traveling events, drawing hundreds of thousands of fans to host cities over several days.

If Minnesota is officially selected, it would mark the first time the state has hosted the NFL Draft.

The 2026 NFL Draft was held in Pittsburgh. The 2027 draft is set for Washington, D.C., meaning Minnesota would be next in line if the expected 2028 selection is finalized.

Minnesota has hosted several major sporting events since U.S. Bank Stadium opened, including Super Bowl LII in 2018 and the 2019 NCAA Men’s Final Four.

The Vikings and local sports leaders have long viewed the draft as a natural target for another major event in downtown Minneapolis.
