Twin Cities Still On Track To Get 10 Inches Of Snow: MN Weather

TWIN CITIES, MN — At least 10 inches of snow is still very possible for the Minneapolis-St. Paul metro area. A winter storm warning is in effect for Hennepin, Ramsey, Washington, McLeod, Carver, Scott, Dakota, Le Sueur, and Rice County.

Ice accumulations of up to one-tenth of an inch are also expected.

"On Monday evening a wintry mix of rain, sleet, and ice will develop across southern Minnesota. Some locations may see over a quarter of an inch of ice, and an Ice Storm Warning is in effect," the National Weather Service said.

"On Monday night heavy snow will move into southwest Minnesota, and spread across central Minnesota and western Wisconsin Tuesday morning into early Tuesday afternoon. Snowfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour are likely for a few hours, which will cause significant travel impacts as visibility drops to a quarter mile at times do to the heavy snow."

Tuesday: Snow and freezing rain before 2pm, then rain, snow, and freezing rain likely. The snow could be heavy at times. High near 32. Northeast wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New ice accumulation of around a 0.1 of an inch possible. New snow accumulation of 3 to 5 inches possible.

Tuesday Night: Snow, possibly mixed with freezing rain, becoming all snow after midnight. Low around 28. North northeast wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Little or no ice accumulation expected. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.
