TWIN CITIES, MN — Widespread haze will settle over the Twin Cities metro area Tuesday afternoon and evening, according to the National Weather Service.

The haze is caused by new wildfires that have sprung up in the Pacific Northwest. "There is a layer of elevated smoke that will linger over the Upper Midwest through the next 24 to 48 hours," the NWS told Patch.

However, the smoke will not have a significant impact on air quality in the state. That's because the smoke is expected to remain elevated above the air we breathe, according to the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency.

Current air quality is "good," according to the PCA's live monitor.

The haze is expected to clear up by Wednesday. Read more about the wildfires in the Pacific Northwest here.
