CHASKA, MN — A woman will face a criminal charge after drunkenly stumbling out of a liquor store before driving away Tuesday, according to the Chaska Police Department.

Around 2 p.m., Chaska officers responded to the report of a woman stumbling out of a liquor store and almost falling while trying to get into her truck.

The woman got in her truck and drove over a center median before officers arrived, but they found her parked a few blocks away, according to police.

The truck's engine was still on, and she was in the driver's seat with her recently-purchased Phillips Original vodka, authorities said.

She was "too drunk" to perform the standardized field sobriety tests, but a preliminary breath sample found that she had a .27 blood alcohol content level at the scene, according to police.

"At the jail, she refused to provide the evidentiary breath sample, which is another crime along with the DWI," authorities said.

"There was some damage to the truck's rear quarter panel, but officers weren't able to determine what caused that. It's not uncommon for drunk drivers to have apparently mysterious damage on their vehicle. This is not her first DWI, and she'll be charged accordingly for yet another poor choice."

Tuesday's incident was the second involving a driver so drunk they couldn't perform field sobriety tests in Chaska.

Chaska police say a 43-year-old man was "extremely drunk" when he fell asleep at the wheel of his vehicle in an Arby's drive-thru last week.
