Bonoff: ‘We Must Confront Our Future with Eyes Wide Open.’

Sen. Terri Bonoff, whose district includes Minnetonka and Plymouth, discussed Minnesota's workforce challenges.

Sen. Terri Bonoff (DFL-District 44) said Minnesota’s workforce isn’t in decline—but she added that the state still must take steps to ensure that never happens.

“I think we have some pressing challenges before us and that we have to attack them with rigor and with velocity,” Bonoff said, noting that ACT scores and other measures are still strong. “We’re not in a decline, but we must confront our future with eyes wide open.”

Bonoff, whose district includes Minnetonka and Plymouth, sat down with Capitol Report Host Julie Bartkey to discuss the workforce challenges ahead. She pointed to an aging workforce that’s quickly being depleted and an up-and-coming generation that she said is very different from generations past.
