Remembering Health: How-To Nutrition and Activity

Springtime Considerations

As many writers begin to celebrate spring for us, I reflect on my own career work and self-change goals.  When we talk of self-change, realize that you may have been doing this already in other ways for much of your adult life. Gardening, sweeping the drive, seasonally changing the furniture, bringing out the patio cushions if you have them, switching your morning brew to waft through the warmer air?

Spring sun brings a sun that requires sunscreen, short sleeves that show-off a tatoo or natural shapes that we can be proud of.  Doesn't that afternoon snack need a little warmth to it?  Take that winter body for a walk, breathe between snack bites, add a glass of water, and generally feel satisfied with the bit of new movement you have just added in your allotted amount of breaktime.  Eh? Repeat. Remember to repeat soon, not just next year.  Plot it, record it, measure it. Enjoy it. Here are a few additional memory jogging questions to ponder. Even a little  change can go a long way in how you feel and perform. (As always, any questions should  be directed to your physician if there is any concern about your current health with change.)

  • Do you need to increase or decrease your caffeine intake with  the changes in daylight or decision to get up several minutes earlier to stretch and/or exercise?
  • Is 10 minutes of activity better accomplished in the evening after a few minutes of meditation?
  • Spring activity during a break is a great excuse to quit a cigarette during that time of day.  You might decrease your tobacco use simply by replacing use with activity gradually. Upper body and lower body works.  Take advantage of your insurance company's health coaching benefits
  • Love yourself physically and psychologically in order to attract others toward sharing time with you.

Springtime is Resurrection and you are part of this. Rejoice in YOU.
