Who: We are anticipating that 100 or more Minnesotans will gather at Opportunity Partners to speak with policy makers. Policy makers will hear from advocates, parents, and persons with disabilities who rely on support services to live independently and contribute to their communities.

Advocates will urge state officials to continue supporting these services and end unjust polices that jeopardize opportunity, and increase risk for individuals with disabilities. “These stories show the true reality that Minnesotans with disabilities and their families face every day,” said Rebecca Covington, Executive Director, Minnesota Consortium for Citizens with Disabilities. “We know that Minnesotans strongly support the services that make life possible and keep individuals and families secure. We shouldn’t be impoverishing people with disabilities and their families in order to access the programs and services they need to remain as independent as possible in their homes and in their communities.”

A broad coalition of organizations is cosponsoring the town hall forum, including Minnesota Consortium for Citizens with Disabilities, Opportunity Partners, Brain Injury Alliance, and ARRM.

Our goal is to provide a forum for people with disabilities, their families, and the greater community to inform legislators and public officials about policies that have impacted members of the disability community.
