Injured Boy Remains Critical, Undergoes Surgery to Relieve Brain Swelling
A 10-year-old, Sam Seward, was hit on Excelsior Boulevard in Minnetonka Tuesday.

Sam Seward, 10, underwent surgery Thursday at Hennepin County Medical Center to remove parts of his skull—relieving pressure on his brain. The boy also has numerous fractures to his pelvis and has not regained consciousness since a car struck him on Tuesday afternoon.
Friday morning, an HCMC spokesperson also confirmed to Patch that the boy remains in critical condition. Seward is reportedly in the hospital's Intensive Care Unit, and has been surrounded by his family.
Tuesday's accident happened only yards from Seward's home in the 13500 block of Excelsior Boulevard, just west of Interstate 494. On Thursday a Minnetonka city spokeswoman said that there is no new information on the case and that Minnetonka Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
