Man Charged With Assault After Fight at Local Gas Station

A local man is facing 10 years behind bars.

UPDATED, June 15 — According to , just before midnight on June 2, officers responded to the Holiday gas station, located in the 17000 block of Minnetonka Boulevard, after a call came in reporting an assault.

On the scene, police say, officers met a man with a cut above his left eye. Police say the man told them he had been punched by his intoxicated partner, identified in court documents as Clinton David Fero, 32, of Excelsior. But after the initial publication of this story, someone identifying himself as "the one in the whole mess," Scott Klinkhammer, wrote to Patch to say he didn't tell officers he was punched in the eye and that, instead, he didn't remember how he received the cut.

While police say Klinkhammer told them he was “very afraid” during the incident, Klinkhammer wrote to Patch to say "I said to the cops I was afraid for him getting in trouble."
