With many Mini-Hops girls either injured or not completely ready to compete, the girls optional teams have a rocky start to their season. The invitational results were an educational experience for both girls and coaches which will give them a gauge in what they need to do in order to have a successful season.
Hosted by North Shore gymnastics, the venue is usually held in the Pavilion at the University of Minnesota. This year it was changed to the National Sports Center in Blaine. The Gopher Invitational is typically the first meet of the season for Minnesota’s twin cities optional girls teams and draws about 300-400 gymnasts.

Competition is awarded according to age brackets (ie – ages 8-11, 12, 13+). All competitions are considered qualifications for the 2014 Minnesota State Gymnastics Championship. In order to qualify for the championship the gymnasts is required to score a minimum of 35.000 in all-around.

Chantal X. (Plymouth, age 8-11) scored 8.850 and placed 4th on vault, did not compete on uneven bars or beam, 8.850 and placed 6th on floor. Final score was 17.700 and placed 14th on all-around.
Isabella B. (Wayzata, age 8-11) scored 8.200 and tied for 13th on vault, did not compete on uneven bars or beam, 8.775 and placed 9th on floor. Final score of 16.975 and placed 15th on all-around.
Claire M. (St. Louis Park, age 12) scored 8.675 and placed 8th on vault, 8.650 and place 2nd on uneven bars, 8.425 and placed 10th on beam, 8.925 and placed 5th on floor. Final score of 34.675 and placed 3rd on all-around.
Susanna F. (Minnetonka, age 12) scored 8.350 and tied for 16th on vault, 7.300 and place 11th on uneven bars, did not compete on beam, 8.600 and placed 14th on floor. Final score of 24.250 and placed 20th on all-around.
Ellie S. (Plymouth, age 12) scored 8.100 and placed 21st on vault, 6.075 and place 20th on uneven bars, did not compete on beam, 8.475 and placed 15th on floor. Final score of 22.650 and placed 21st on all-around.
Abby F. (Plymouth, age 13+) scored 8.600 and tied for 13th on vault, 8.950 and place 5th on uneven bars, 7.225 and placed 18th on beam, 7.750 and placed 22nd on floor. Final score of 32.525 and placed 10th on all-around.
Chelsea L. (Mound, age 13+) scored 8.525 and placed 16th on vault, did not compete on uneven bars, 7.450 and placed 15th on beam, 9.025 and tied for 7th on floor. Final score of 25.000 and placed 22nd on all-around.
Team acquired a score of 100.925 to claim a 7th place.
