Minnetonka Student Named Scholar of Distinction

Eric O. Sargent will be honored at a ceremony Saturday.

A Minnetonka High School student is one of 42 students who have been honored in the state Department of Education’s scholar of distinction program.

Eric O. Sargent was named a scholar of distinction in the theater arts category.

“To earn recognition, a student must complete required work in Minnesota’s academic standards, demonstrate mastery of complex subject matter, and apply their knowledge and skills on challenging projects,” a news release stated.

(The program also recognized students in science, STEM, mathematics, social studies and leadership.)

Deputy Commissioner Jessie Montano will be among those honoring the students at a ceremony Saturday at the Perpich Center for Arts Education.
