Minnetonka Takes On Moorhead In Battle of Hockey Powers

Minnetonka travels to Moorhead Friday for a fight of ranked boys hockey teams.

The Skippers, ranked No. 2 in the Class AA rankings faces #11 Moorhead on the road Friday. in the Schwan Cup-Gold Division championship game last week. Moorhead started the season 6-0, but was 1-1-1 in the recent St. Louis Park Tournament. The Spuds advanced to the Class AA state tournament last season but lost their first two games at the Xcel Energy Center.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Max Coatta - Minnetonka forward
The junior leads the Skippers with 13 goals and is second in assists with 14 and points with 27. Coatta has at least one point in eleven of the team’s twelve games.

Michael Bitzer – Moorhead goalie
The netminder has two shutouts and allowed just one goal in four other games this season. He has an impressive 93.3 save percentage.

SKIPPERS WIN IF...
They can continue to get outstanding goalkeeping from senior Matt Behounek and junior Paul Ciaccio. The Skippers have allowed just 20 goals in twelve games and have three shutouts.

SPUDS WIN IF...
They can get scoring from twins Tony Uglem and Nicholas Uglem. The two have been double-trouble for opponents as they have combined for 30 points and are first and second on the team in scoring.
