City Considers New Microbrewery
New agenda for Planning Commission meeting tonight.

Tonight, the Minnetonka Planning Commission will hear from the owner of Lucid Brewing, Eric Biermann, who would like to operate a production microbrewery and distribution center at 6020 Culligan Way in Minnetonka.
While no alcohol would be sold for on-site consumption, according to a staff report from city planners, future brewery tours have not been ruled out.
“Anecdotally, many microbreweries have tours and events, particularly if their brews become popular,” that report says.

As it stands, the city has no standard classification for this kind of business, so a “condition use permit” is being considered so that the business can move forward. The planning commission is likely to recommend that the Minnetonka City Council adopt a resolution that approves this conditional use permit for the new microbrewery and distribution center, at the June 6 city council meeting.
Currently, there are no breweries within Minnetonka’s city limits.
