Lydia Kihm, Executive Director, of Teens Alone was grateful for the award, “On behalf of everyone involved with Teens Alone, I want to thank the Minnetonka Rotary Foundation for your gift of $1000.”
Lydia continued by telling us more about Teens Alone. “Teens Alone answered almost 1000 crisis calls last year. Whether clients and their families learn about us through school counselors, teachers, friends, or just see one of our posters, they can most often meet with a counselor or case manager within one or two days of their initial call. All we need is their willingness to seek out help. Your gift funded, among other Teens Alone services, barrier-free counseling and homeless youth case management to help them stay in school and be safely housed. Your gift benefits these young people, and consequently, our neighbors. Young people, ages 12 to 21 find Teens Alone for varied reasons. We exist to help them navigate a complicated world.”

Lydia was particularly enthusiastic about some new things going on at Teens Alone. “Your donation will also be used towards the new transitional living program for homeless young adults and the new drop-in center located in downtown Hopkins, at 915 Mainstreet.”
Roger Johnson of The Minnetonka Rotary said, “Teens Alone is in line with our goal of Building Responsible Youth. Their location in downtown Hopkins is in support of the youth of the Hopkins / Minnetonka communities means that it was absolutely the right thing for us to do. We believe Teens Alone fills a void in our community that would not be met in any other way. Thank you, Teens Alone, for your help and concern in working with our vulnerable youth.”
