The Minnetonka Police Department Crime Prevention Association is a non-profit organization that promotes strong community partnerships and is run by a volunteer board. The Minnetonka Police Chief is a board member and makes recommendations to the committee based on department and community needs. The Board of Directors ultimately decides how funds are to be administered. The board is responsible for fundraising efforts to support the police department’s crime prevention programs.
Crime fund money is used to support programs such as CounterAct (a drug and violence prevention program for fifth graders), Minnetonka Night for Neighbors, Neighborhood Watch and a variety of safety education programs for children, adults, seniors and businesses. The fund also provides reward money for information leading to an arrest or conviction in a criminal case or for purchasing specialized crime prevention equipment.
The association will accept donations for any amount. Donations are federal and state tax deductable. To contribute, checks can be sent to the Minnetonka Crime Prevention Association, P.O. Box 1255 Minnetonka, MN 55345-0255. For questions about the fund please call 952-935-8000.
