White Hawks Wrestlers Second at Turkey Burn Invite

The Mound Westonka High School wrestling squad hosted the first-ever Turkey Burn Invite on Saturday, November 30 at Mound Westonka High School.  The Turkey Burn marked their first action of the year, and the White Hawks had a solid runner-up finish in the seven team field, with state-rated Anoka taking home the championship.  “I thought we wrestled pretty well over all, but we have a lot of things to work on.  It was great to get the season started and see where we are at,” said head coach Todd Munsterteiger.  Placing for the White Hawks were: 6th place, Cori Klocek; 5th place, Travis Peterson; 4th place, Adrian Wear and John Byers; 3rd place, Noah Byers and Kyle Johnson; 2nd place, Neil Schmalz, Ryan Reid, Luke Schmalz and Drake Heath; and champions Lee Schmalz, Sam Bennyhoff and Bryan Tierney.

The coaching staff would like to thank all of the parents and workers for all of their help running a quality tournament.  “Everyone did a great job and things ran pretty smoothly,” added assistant coach John Wardlow.

The White Hawks will travel to the Fridley Invitational on Saturday, December 7.  First-round action will begin at 9:00 a.m.
