Wiskus Performs Well at First Elite Meet
A follow up for those that did not get to see Shane Wiskus MHG Gymnast compete at the P & G Championships in Pittsburg in late August.

Shane ended up 13th overall in the 15-16 age group. What does that mean? When you look at it from the perspective that about ½ the guys that placed higher, are on their way to their perspective Colleges and Shane is on his way to his sophomore year in high school. So, he’s in pretty good shape on his elite gymnastics path.
He started on the first day in pretty good shape on his first 5 events, scoring slightly above his average in some events and he was in 5th place. Got through the first 80% of his pommel routine and fell on the dismount. At that point he repeated the dismount and struggled. Costing him 1.5 on his all-around score, he went into the second day in 15th place. The second day he had a great day, scoring 80.3 (his highest as an elite competing using international rules) but, everyone seemed to be hitting as well. It was enough to move up to 13th place and 3 spots out from the national team.
Going forward, Shane is very motivated to get back to training new skills, and upgrading his routines for the upcoming season. He has also put the other gymnasts on notice that he belongs at this Elite level of competition and will be returning to P & G Championships next year in Indianapolis to take one of those top 10 spots.
Shane Wiskus lives in Spring Hills, MN and trains at Minnetonka Hopkins Gymnastics (MHG) in Minnetonka, MN
