UPDATE: Woman Rescued in Minnetonka House Fire

The fire started in the garage of a home on Woods Way in Minnetonka.

Firefighters rescued a woman from a burning house in Minnetonka early Tuesday evening. That woman was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center where she is currently listed in satisfactory condition. 

Around 5 p.m., responded to a one-alarm fire in the 4300 block of Woods Way, near the intersection of Highway 7 and Williston Road in Minnetonka. 50 firefighters responded to Tuesday's fire and were able to extinguish the blaze in about 30 minutes.

A official said that a vehicle inside the home's attached three-car garage, caught fire. That car fire then spread, eventually partially engulfing the garage in flames. There was otherwise minimal fire damage to the rest of the home.

Firefighters found the woman, still conscious, inside the home's front door, and transported her to HCMC.  She was reportedly treated for serious smoke inhalation. That woman was the only person in the home at the time of the fire.

According to , this is another case in which staffing the Minnetonka Fire Department around the clock proved crucial. Minnetonka made this switch from "on-call firefighters" to "duty crews" two years ago. On the scene of , Minnetonka Fire Chief Joe Wallin said that duty crew staffing means firefighters get to fires faster—saving structures and potentially saving lives.
