• Navigating and Coaching for College and Careers – Childcare Support Specialist – Student Jobs (carleton.edu) — Carleton students can now apply for a paid childcare support role with Navigating and Coaching for College and Careers, working at the Jefferson Parkway site in Northfield during the 2026–27 academic year. The job supports local students and families attending evening classes, with steady weekly evening shifts, training on-site, and a focus on serving diverse Northfield alumni communities.
• Author Jeff Sauve to discuss 1896 bicycle bank robbery in Northfield (southernminn.com) — Northfield residents can hear historian and former St. Olaf archivist Jeff Sauve discuss his new true-crime book about an 1896 bicycle-assisted bank robbery on Sunday, Sept. 13 at 4 p.m. at St. Peter's Lutheran Church. His talk will explore the dramatic multi-state chase, the role of everyday people, and the strong Norwegian-American ties woven through the story, with signed copies available for purchase.
• City of Austin among dozens of communities to receive Minnesota DNR forestry grant (kttc.com) — Minnesota's DNR is awarding nearly $5 million in tree-planting grants, and Northfield is among the southern Minnesota cities getting money to strengthen their urban forests. Austin receives a large share, but Northfield's award will also help replace damaged trees and expand canopy cover. Another round of community forestry grants is open through Sept. 14 with no local match required.
