• Class of 2030 begins St. Olaf journey with 'good questions' (stolaf.edu) — New and returning St. Olaf students in Northfield are starting the 2026–27 academic year with an Opening Convocation focused on asking good questions, building community, and caring for neighbors. Campus leaders encouraged the 844 first-years and 29 transfer students to explore the Natural Lands, connect with classmates and professors, and intentionally shape their four-year journey on the Hill.
• Lakers cross country team battles heat, terrain in packed opening week (plnewscompass.org) — Prior Lake's boys cross country team opened its season at a challenging Sept. 3 meet in Northfield, battling humidity, rain, and a tough course while still placing all varsity runners under 20 minutes. The Northfield race set the tone for a busy opening week that continued at the Irish Invitational and leads into the Apple Jack Invite in Lakeville.
• For these Midwest farmers, regenerative agriculture is about more than soil health. It's spiritual (gmtoday.com) — A Northfield farmer has turned a former row-crop operation into Salvatierra Farms, a regenerative poultry and research hub that rejects chemicals and centers spiritual connection to the land. His work in and around Northfield is inspiring a wider Midwest network of Indigenous leaders, faith communities, and former conventional farmers who see eco‑spiritual agriculture as a response to climate and health concerns.
