• 'They underestimated Northfield': 150 years later, the town remembers the James-Younger raid (hometownsource.com) — Northfield residents recently gathered in Bridge Square to mark 150 years since townspeople stopped the James-Younger Gang's attempted bank robbery, unveiling a new exhibit at the Northfield History Center featuring a historic duster coat. Local leaders, including Mayor Erica Zweifel and Carleton College's president, honored bank cashier Joseph Lee Heywood's sacrifice and reflected on how defending the bank safeguarded the town's future and Carleton's survival.
