Clarice Evelyn Halvorson Henderson was born September 25, 1919, in Frost, Minnesota, to Andrew and Christina (Erdahl) Halvorson. She was baptized and confirmed at Frost Lutheran Church and graduated from Frost High School in 1941. She worked several years as a baby sitter and as a waitress at the cafes in Frost. On April 4, 1945, Clarice married Arnold V. Henderson at the Lutheran parsonage in Blue Earth. After marriage they began their family and lived in Mason City, Iowa, and Fairmont, Minnesota. In 1958, they moved to Belle Plaine, Iowa, and in 1969 to Northfield. Shortly after moving to Northfield, Clarice began working as a Dietary Aid at the newly opened Northfield Retirement Center. She remained at NRC until retiring in 1989. Arnold passed away on August 7, 2004, and Clarice remained in Northfield until moving to Rochester in 2010.
Clarice was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and had always been active in the churches they attended. She enjoyed sewing, embroidery and baking. Her family loved her world famous peanut butter cups, delicious cinnamon rolls and from scratch chocolate cake. Clarice was gracious, a good hostess, kind hearted, sweet and strong. She was happiest when her children and grandchildren were near.
