
Harriet Flatla, 84 of Northfield, passed away Monday, May 6th, 2013 at the Northfield Care Center.
A Memorial Service will be 2:00 pm Friday, May 10th at Bierman Funeral Home in Northfield. Burial will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Friday.
Harriet was born on October 6th, 1928 in Osage, Iowa to Howard and Veva Smalley. She graduated from Osage High School and later on became a secretary and bookkeeper. While in school, she met Harold Flatla and they were married October 8th, 1947. They had a farm in Iowa until 1960. After leaving Iowa they moved to Fairmont, MN for a year then moved to Winona, MN where Harriet was a bookkeeper at Badger Foundry. In 1970 they moved to the Farmington area where Harriet then became a secretary for DeBates Decoration. She continued to work there until 2009.

Harriet enjoyed gardening, reading, crossword and jigsaw puzzles. Harriet was a loving mother and caring friend to many.
Harriet was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Veva Smalley. She is survived by her husband Harold and daughter Patricia Oevering, two grandchildren, Tony Oevering and Kim Oevering-Golliher, three great grandchildren, Taylor and Adam Oevering and Mason Golliher. She is also survived by a sister, Marjorie Moran and a brother, Larry Smalley.
