Another Busy Saturday Morning in Bridge Square

There’s one constant about summertime in Northfield: Bridge Square is the place to be on Saturday morning.

The downtown Northfield park again was bustling with activity on June 8.

The main focus was the second weekend of the Riverwalk Market Fair, with vendors selling art, jewelry and baked goods, to name a few of the items. Kathleen Johnson played her Hammered Dulcimer and the Northfield Area Family YMCA hosted the kids activity tent.

But just a few yards from the community of canopies were anglers lining the east bank of the Cannon River, casting their lines below the Ames Mill dam. One fisherman’s morning catch could seen flopping in a white bucket beside a park bench.

In between the activity of the fair and fishing stood Northfield artist Marsha Kitchel, silently working on a painting of the Ames Mill.

The market fair will continue its summer-long run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, June 15.
