"Of the people,by the people for the people"

A shout -out to people who voted for Kevin Dahle to give him a gentle reminder of who he works for.

On this comming monday the Minnesota Senate is taking a very important vote. Please call our Senator, Kevin Dahle's capital office and leave him a message to support Governor Dayton's budget 651-296-1279. Also the Sen. majority leader Thomas Bakk could be helpfull...651-296-8881.
In 2011 less than 1% of corps in Mn. (big ones like wells fargo and target) evaded paying $1.3Bill. in taxes by using loopholes and tax havens in the carribean. Over 50% of corporations paid 0 tax . This puts "small business" at a big disadvantage, and is simply unfair to hard working families who end up paying an effective tax rate between 12 and 30 %.
Do we really believe that a ceo at target or some big bank is worth 300 X's more than the people who work for them? Are their lives more valuable than a hungry homeless child?
These guys can make from $20-50 million a year. They should pay the same taxes as the person who works on the roads and bridges they share with the rest of us.
It's an absolute lie that taxing these massive corps. will hurt job creation. They are sitting on trillions, not paying taxes, and not creating jobs, except in poorer countries.
What will be a job creator is putting more Firefighters,School Teachers, EMT's, and contruction workers to work rebuilding our crumbling infrastructure, Which all business, large and small, depend on. When we also pay people a living wage ($10.55) there will automatically be a greater demand for more goods and sevices. Then companies will hire more people to fill that demand. Pretty basic stuff.
And I gaurantee you not one penny of that money will end-up in the Cayman Islands, or a Swiss bank !
So please call your Representitives in St. Paul and tell them to close corporate loopholes and tax havens, and raise the minimum wage to a living wage.  In other words...support the Gvernor's budget.  Thank you
