The Cannon River has finally crested, and the water level is down approximately one foot in the last 24 hours.

The 2nd St. gauge in Northfield reads 899.91 inches.
Straight River readings continue to fall. West Cannon River levels are still rising, but very slowly.

River levels in Northfield should continue to drop, but will do so at much slower rates than they originally rose, according to a news release.
Protections and restrictions to riverside areas will continue. Police and city staff will continue to monitor affected areas along the river, and they will adjust restrictions as applicable.

Reminders
- The Downtown Walk Bridge and Bicycle Bridge over the Cannon are closed to all traffic.
- The 4th St. Bridge is closed to vehicle traffic, but is open for foot traffic.
- Sechler and South Babcock Parks are closed.
- Regardless of any additional rain received, river levels will remain very high well into, or through next
- week.
Downtown businesses along the Cannon River and Carleton College are taking steps to protect their property,
buildings, and contents.
The Northfield Police Department is asking citizens to use caution during this flood event:
- Do not wade or swim in the Cannon River.
- Monitor children and do not allow them to approach the river.
- Do not enter streets, parks, or sidewalk areas that have been blocked, taped, or labeled as closed.
- If you encounter flooded streets, do not try to drive into or through the water.
