Cannon River in Northfield May Rise to Problematic Levels

There are already flooding issues near Cannon River Park between Faribault and Northfield.

Following heavy rain across southern Minnesota last week, the Cannon River in Northfield could continue to rise to flood levels in some areas over the next several days.

The Northfield Police Department is monitoring rising water levels in the Cannon River and is warning businesses and residents in flood prone areas that the river could continue to rise to problematic levels in Northfield.

The river level in Northfield was over 896 feet this morning; this level is already higher than the peak level recorded last week, according to a news release.

Northfield police urge businesses and residents in flood prone areas to monitor water levels near their property and be prepared to protect their property if necessary.
