
On Tuesday, September 17, 2013, Constitution Day will be marked in Northfield with a public forum on immigration issues sponosred by St. Olaf, Carleton, and the Northfield TORCH Program. The forum is being organized by Professor Doug Casson at St. Olaf, and will take place at Regents Hall, room 290, from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 17. The program will include:
- a broad overview of current immigration laws and enforcement (John Keller, Director of the Immigration Law Center of Minnesota),
- an interpretation of the law and a discussion of anticipated developments (Ben Casper, Director of the Center for New Americans and experienced immigration attorney at the appellate level),
- a discussion of the local approach to enforcement of immigration law (Chuck Walerius, Northfield Police Chief),
- and a discussion of how the new laws affect the lives of local his chool students and recent graduates (Beth Berry, Director of Northfield TORCH and Juve Meza, founder of NAVIGATE MN).
A Spanish interpreter will also be available at the program.
