Crazy Daze Kicks Off Busy Day
Northfield's annual bargain bonanza is one of a number of events taking place in the city on Thursday.
You know it’s an atypical day in Northfield when you legally can sit in a couch on the street at the corner of Division and Fifth streets. Or, when scores of people stand in line to buy donuts as big as your head.
That’s Crazy Daze for you!
Today is the annual bargain bonanza for downtown Northfield businesses, many of which set up shop on the sidewalks along Division Street. Or, even on the street itself.

Downtown eateries also get into the act. For instance, Quality Bakery sells its massive Alaskan donuts at a table outside its store front.
Shoppers were out early this morning scooping up deals on a variety of merchandise, ranging from clothing to furniture. Many businesses opened at 7 a.m.

The Crazy Dave shopping event is just one of a number of events on tap for today in Northfield.

CRAZY DAZE
When: Until 8 p.m.
What: Business owners will have the with inventory at discounted prices. More deals will also be in the stores.
NORTHFIELD LIBRARY DOLL HOUSE DISPLAY
When: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

TASTE OF NORTHFIELD
When: 4 to 10 p.m.
What: The was postponed by wet weather last month and organizers picked Thursday as its rain date. Residents are encouraged to stop down to and purchase samples of foods (at a reduced price) from more than a dozen local restaurants. There’s also a beer and wine tent, silent auction, raffle, live music and a street dance.
WEAR PURPLE FOR MAGGIE LEE DAY
When: 5 p.m.
What: Maggie Lee, a lifetime Northfield advocate and former managing editor, columnist, reporter and just about everything else, recently fell ill and is being cared for at Three Links. For all to the city, residents have come together to plan a way to honor 91-year-old Maggie. Folks will gather at 5 p.m. on Bridge Square to sing and celebrate her. Don't forget to wear purple!
MEOWS FOR MAGGIE
When: Until 1 p.m.
When: In honor of Maggie Lee and her affinity for cats, has partnered with the Northfield News to host a at the News' downtown office.
CITY COUNCIL CANDIDATE FORUM
When: 6 to 8 p.m.

SPUR NORTHFIELD OPEN HOUSE
When: 4 to 7 p.m.
What: SPUR, a coworking space , is hosting an open house on Thursday. Residents are encouraged to visit to learn more about SPUR and coworking spaces. There will also be a drawing for a a Kindle Fire.
