DJJD SLIDESHOW: Jesse James Bike Tour
About 125 volunteers from the Northfield Rotary Club and community worked together on Saturday to put on the Jesse James Bike Tour.
About 125 volunteers were hard at work Saturday so bicyclists could participate in the Jesse James Bike Tour, a fundraiser of the Northfield Rotary Club.
After riders registered, they departed the starting at 6:30 a.m. Some bicyclists rode in groups, their colorful jerseys brightening the somewhat foggy morning as they pedaled together. Other cyclists rode solo or in pairs.
Cyclists rode one of five routes—10, 30, 45, 60 or 100 miles. Three of the five traveled through Sogn Valley where cyclists were treated to some of the most spectacular views in the area.

Every 15 miles or so along the tour cyclists were also treated to rest stops well-stocked with granola bars, fresh fruit, Gatorade, water and more all served up by friendly volunteers.
Area bike shops—Milltown Cycles, Erik’s Bike Shop, Penn Cycle and —also volunteered their time and set up mini-shops at rest stops to help out with minor bike adjustments and repairs.

All together, according to ride chair Mark Thacher, about 1,100 bicyclists participated in the bike tour.
“Everything went really well,” Thacher said. “Riders were very pleased with the ride.”
