Saturday's event featured six Civil War-era bands stationed along the Cannon River.
It was East Bank versus West Bank on the Cannon River in downtown Northfield Saturday afternoon.
The Vintage Band Festival’s Battle of the Bands featured six Civil War-era bands stationed along the Cannon north of the Third Street pedestrian bridge.
Hundreds of festival-goers listened as the “Southern” bands on the east side of the river and the “Northerners” on the west side volley 19th-century pieces of music among one another.

As soon as one band played the final note of their piece, another band on the other side of the river started their music.
