African Adinkra Potato Prints (9-12 years)

Adinkra is a beautifully decorated cloth worn in Western Africa. The cloth is filled with patterns and symbols, often telling a story or sending a message. In this class artists will explore African adinkra and begin to understand the importance of symbolism within art as a form of communication. They will then create their own unique symbol and carve it from a potato! This will become their stamp for their own adinkra inspired cloth. Angie Ekern teaches art at Prairie Creek Community School and has a passion for guiding children through the creative process. Call 507-650-0106 to register or stop in the Co-op.
