Cross-Country Ski Series: Session 1 - Ski Prep

Join River Bend Naturalist and former St. Olaf Ski team member Zach Hudson for a three-part series on cross-country skiing. While the sessions complement each other participants are not required to attend all three sessions and may come to any single session or all three.

Session 1: Ski Prep
Participants will learn how to properly prepare both classic and skate skis for the coming winter. Topics covered will include proper wax application and scraping and brushing of waxed skis. Both kick and glide waxing will be addressed.

Session 2: Ski Technique
Saturday, December 8, 2012, 1:00-2:30pm. Pre-registration for this session is required.
Participants will join naturalist Zach Hudson for an hour long classic technique instruction session. Good technique is helpful for both recreational and competitive skiers. Improving speed and efficiency of technique makes every skiers experience more enjoyable!

Session 3: Naturalist Ski
Saturday, February 2, 2013, 1:00-2:30pm.
Participants will put their knowledge from sessions 1 and 2 to use when they join River Bend Naturalist Zach Hudson for a ski along the trails. The focus of this session will be exploring the unique winter ecology of River Bend. Come see the Nature center in winter while enjoying the company of other skiers!

Open to all ages.  $2 per person per session or $5 per person for all three sessions. Free for members.
