Mathilde Brown Swanson, Curator of the Fritz Kredel Archive. Fritz Kredel (1900-1973) was one of the most important graphic designers in the 20th century. He fled Germany and settled in the USA in 1936. During his lifetime he illustrated over 400 books, many of them classics such as Aesop's fables, Anderson's fairy tales and Shakespeare's plays.
