GOODS FOR GOOD Northfield Rummage Raid for Charity

6th Annual 5th Bridge Goods for Good Northfield City-Wide Rummage Sale Event for Charity. Friday, May 17th-Sat. May 18th, 2013. Dozens of sale sites all benefiting charities. Many church and school sales, many indoors, rain or shine!!!! Worth the Drive to Northfield!!!!  Shop the sales and know that your purchases will go to good causes.

Visit www.5thbridge.org/goodsforgood for more infomation and a printable map of the sites. Maps will also be available in front of the Northfield News office, 115 5th St. W, Nfld. and at each site. Watch for the GOODS FOR GOOD signs.

This 5th Bridge community event is unique. There are lots of communities that host city-wide rummage sale events and there are lots of individual rummage sales for specific charities. Some events may have a charitable component like a food shelf donation as admission or their sale leftovers may be donated to a charity, but our 5th Bridge Goods for Good event in Northfield is the only city-wide rummage sale event (that we know of) that is all about charity and philanthropy. Every site selects the charity or cause that will benefit from their sales proceeds and agrees to give at least 50% of the money raised to that charity. The goods to sell are donated by friends, families, or neighbors and any leftover goods are then donated to a charity (CAC Clothes Closet).

This event is a win-win for everyone. People who host sites are able to simplify their lives by getting rid of unwanted items, volunteer their time to organize a sale and raise money for their favorite charities. People, who are not in a position to host a sale, but have unneeded items, can donate those items to another sale site. People who shop are able to purchase things they need or want at affordable prices, and discover hidden treasures. Charitable groups, clubs, churches and other good causes received donations of new money that don’t take away from any other existing fund raising efforts. As this event grows, more and more people are coming from other communities to shop the sales, and it is our hope that other communities will adopt this idea as well.
