Middle East Expert Jennifer Loewenstein Discusses Israel-Palestine Conflict in the Context of Arab Spring

Middle East expert Jennifer Loewenstein will bring her perspective on the Israel-Palestine conflict and what has led to the current impasse at a Palestine Gala Dinner this Saturday.

Sponsored by Northfielders for Justice in Palestine/Israel (NJP), the dinner is 5:30 p.m., Nov. 12, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 500 West Third St., Northfield. In addition to Loewenstein’s presentation, the dinner features a three-course Middle Eastern dinner, traditional dabkeh dancing and oud music.

Loewenstein, who has lived in both Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territories, is a journalist, political activist and a faculty associate in Middle East Studies at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. She is a sharp critic of Israel’s treatment of the Palestinians, as well as American support for Israel.
