SYNERGY: Four Artists in Dynamic Juxtaposition

SYNERGY features work by four local artists.  Northfielders Reese Gaertner and Jan Shoger join forces with Donovan Palmquist and Colleen Riley of Farmington to exhibit artwork inspired by natural textures, colors, and forms.

Originally from Michigan, Reese Gaertner works mainly with natural and reclaimed woods to create both functional and decorative objects.  Donovan Palmquist and Colleen Riley make functional pots that are largely influenced by the prairie landscape surrounding their studio.  Jan Shoger layers various printmaking processes to add depth and complexity to her work; in her prints, she uses the weathering processes in nature as a metaphor for human aging.  This show reveals a rich synergy between two and three-dimensional work and the artists’ overlapping ideas and interests.

In the Members’ Room, Pearl Tait shows her mixed media paintings in Expressions of the Inner Self.  Tait mixes acrylic paints with various materials to build rich hues and develop unusual textures on the surfaces of her abstract paintings.

The opening reception for these exhibitions takes place on Friday, November 11 from 7pm - 9pm.  In addition, a gallery talk with the SYNERGY artists will be held on Tuesday, November 15 from 7pm-8pm.  Both of these events are open to the public.

The Northfield Arts Guild Gallery hours are Monday through Friday 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. – 3 p.m., and Sunday 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.
