Syttende mai Celebration in Northfield

The Northfield branches of Nordmanns-Forbundet and Sons of Norway Nordmarka Lodge, two of the largest ethnic organizations in the USA, invite all to join them in a celebration of Norway’s National Day with a joint potluck supper and program with music and a special guest from Norway on Saturday, May 14 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 500 W 3rd St., Northfield at 5:30 pm.

Our guest of honor this year is professional storyteller and drama teacher, Anne Elisebeth Skogen, from Rogaland, Norway. She will present a program created especially for this occasion on “Syttende Mai Traditions, Past and Present.”

Anne Elisebeth has performed and taught storytelling throughout Norway and Scandinavia. On this tour to the U.S. she also brings the story of the first immigrants, "With Restauration Through Hell Gate to the Promised Land" which she will present at the Seamans' Church in New York, and at Mindekirken in Minneapolis on May 17th at noon.
