Flushing of Northfield Fire Hydrants to Begin Oct. 9

Water mains in Northfield will be flushed between the hours of 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. starting on Sunday, October 9 and concluding Thursday, Oct. 13.

Watermains are routinely flushed to remove minerals as they accumulate in the distribution
system and check the operational integrity of the fire hydrants.

Residents are advised to limit water use during the flushing period and check for discoloration
prior to using water for laundry purposes.

In case your laundry should get rust-stained, keep them wet and you can pick up a special soap
for stain removal at City Hall during the week, according to a news release.
