Flushing of Northfield Fire Hydrants to Begin September 25

Residents are advised to limit water use during the flushing period and check for discoloration prior to doing laundry.

Watermains in Northfield will be flushed between the hours of 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. starting on the night of Sunday, Sept. 25 and concluding at 6:00 a.m. on the morning of Thursday, Sept. 29.

Watermains are routinely flushed to remove minerals as they accumulate in the distribution
system and check the operational integrity of the fire hydrants.

Residents are advised to limit water use during the flushing period and check for discoloration prior to doing laundry, according to a news release.

In case your laundry should get rust-stained, keep the clothes wet and you can pick up a special soap
for stain removal at City Hall during the week.
