Highway 169 SB Near St. Peter Blocked Due To Mudslide

When a road is closed, it is illegal to travel in that area. Motorists can be fined up to $1,000 and receive 90 days in jail.

MANKATO, MN — The southbound lanes of Highway 169 and the inside northbound lane of Highway 169 south of St. Peter are closed due to multiple mudslides this week. Motorists are asked to Highway 22 as an alternate route until further notice.

MnDOT crews have been on the scene clearing the debris for several hours, but slides continue with the wet conditions.

  • Highway 86: Wilder to Iowa (detoured April 15 for utility work on downed power lines)
  • Highway 19 east of Henderson (closed March 19 due to flooding)
  • Highway 93 south of Henderson (closed March 16 due to flooding)

In addition, if travelers need to be rescued from a closed road, other expenses and penalties will apply, according to a news release.
