Northfield Football Loses to Red Wing 27-24; Season Over

The Raiders led 14-7 at the half thanks to a 16-yard scoring run from quarterback Jake Mathison and a 30-yard interception for a touchdown from Kiefer Schmidt.

The on Saturday couldn't hold a halftime lead as the Raiders lost at Red Wing 27-24 to end their bid for the Section 1AAAA championship and a berth in the state tournament.

The Wingers, however, opened the second half with a scoring drive to knot the game at 14. They followed up later in the quarter with another touchdown to pull ahead 21-14.

Aaron Stets kicked a 24-yard field goal in the fourth to bring the Raiders within four points before Red Wing ran for another touchdown, putting them up by 10.

Cody Fugate scored on a 1-yard run late in the game to bring the score to 27-24, but Northfield couldn't recover an onside kick.

The loss in Red Wing, which ends the Raiders' season, puts their record at 3-7 for the season.
