- swore in new mayor, Dana Graham, and new councilors, David DeLong and David Ludescher. Erica Zweifel, who was re-elected in the last election, was also sworn in for her second term.
- moved the consent agenda item "Designate the Official Newspaper" to the regular agenda at the request of Zweifel. By state law, government entities are required to post public notices in an official paper. Zweifel said the system has become outdated as there are faster, cheaper and better ways to get the information to residents. Through November 2012, the city paid the Northfield News $21,000 to run public notices (meeting agendas, meeting minutes, project bids), according to a post on Locally Grown Northfield. The council agreed to include the topic in its discussion with Northfield legislators.
- approved the final plat and development agreement for the Spring Creek Townhomes.
- moved forward with the plan to vote on the approval of the police facility site plan at its Jan. 15 meeting.
