Northfield Cross Country Teams Both Place Eighth at Burnsville Blaze Invitational

Both boys and girls placed eighth; Kaia Bierman placed sixth overall and Sam Fox finished 19th.

The competed at the Burnsville Blaze Invitational on Thursday, with both teams finishing eighth overall.

The boys squad finished eighth with 210 points in the 12-team field. Owatonna and Mahtomedi tied to win the meet with 53 points. On the girls side, the Raiders took eighth with 172 points. Shakopee won the girls event with 59 points.

Individually for the girls team, sophomore Kaia Bierman took sixth overall with a 15:19.5 finish. Junior Maria Olson took 17th at 16:15.4, Marissa Thornton finished 26th at 16:43.2 and Ellyn Sheehy finished 56th at 17:29.5. Annie DeSutter finished 67th at 17:45.8 and Annika Peterson finished 69th at 17:57.1.

On the boys side, senior Sam Fox finished a team-best 19th overall with a 17:47.8 finish. Corbin Godfrey took 28th at 18:04.9, David Kreis finished 52nd at 18:33.6 and Christian Vosejpka took 55th at 18:35.3. 

Will Olstad took 56th at 18:35.5, Logan Regnier took 62nd at 18:40.7 and Ian Iverson took 73rd at 18:56.6.

The boys individual event winner was Burnsville’s Cole O’Brien, who finished in 16:36.8. Shakopee’s Maria Hauger, the two-time defending Class AA state champion, took first on the girls side, winning in 14:02.6.

The Raiders' next event is on Thursday, Oct. 6, at Owatonna’s Brooktree Golf Course.
