Northfield DFL Planning August Picnic and Silent Auction
The DFL is planning its annual fundraising picnic.

DFL Senate District 58 is planning for its annual August fundraising picnic, and it looks like this year it will be bigger than ever.Β
Steve Quist, the district's chair, is working with the DFL District 56 chair to combine picnics this year into a blowout event at Lac Lavonne Park on the border of Burnsville and Lakeville.
We have "hopes of getting a much larger crowd, and a couple big name politicians," he wrote in an email to Senate District 58 Democrats.

Tied to that, I have been trying to think of some bigger potential silent auction items, and one thing came to mind, a mini wine cellar.Β Maybe a case or two cases of various wines, 24 to 48 bottles of wine, to be sold as a package.Β Iβm hoping people can begin thinking of a bottle or two to donate that they like, or a bottle or two that they have that they donβt like and wouldnβt mind getting rid of.Β Iβll begin accepting donations as early as the next meeting, so bring a bottle to share for the auction.Β By the way, please donβt donate a $100 bottle of wine.Β First because Iβm not sure we would get the value back, so lower prices are better, and two, because I know nothing about wine, and I donβt want to assume the person buying it does either.Β Iβd hate for some special wine to end up as a chaser for a bag of Doritoβs because I donβt know any better.Β Of course that brings up the question, what wine goes with a bag of Doritoβsβ¦
